 In Mexico, 33 out of every 100 women between the ages of 15 and 54 are single and have at least one dependent child . Life has led them to be in a complicated situation, either because the child's father is deceased, or because they decided to leave the relationship due to different situations, being a single mother in Mexico is very complicated.

They not only have to take care of the delivery, but in addition to taking care of the baby, doing housework, if not they must work to support their children. Fortunately, there are several foundations, or government programs, which most women do not know and can help them both economically, psychologically and scholarly.

If you are a single mother, you can access a government subsidy. To qualify, you only need to have at least one child under your care. To request it, you only have to fill out the Unique Socio-economic information form ( CUIS ). You can request it at the Delegation of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development ( SEDATU ).

The secretary of social development SEDESOL has developed the program of child stays to support single mothers who work . This aid that ranges from $ 900 to $ 1,800 pesos per month that is directed to the care and attention of the children that the mother has under her care, and that are between 1 and 6 years old.

  • Be between 12 to 18 years of age. (Mothers under 12 years old do not enter the program).
  • Be registered to take a basic education program in a public school.
